Miss Katy and Cystic Fibrosis

This is my sweet 4 year old, 5 in May, granddaughter who unfortunately has Cystic Fibrosis. There is no cure at the moment for this terrible disease, and if you are interested in the facts about it I have a link on the sidebar that will take you to the CF website, and a montage about Miss Katy.

A quilt raffle is going to be held on May 9th for the quilt you see pictured in my header. It was made by Cindy and donated for this fundraiser. Please pass the word in the land of blog, and feel free to link to the CF site or here. The link on the sidebar takes you to a donation page and tells you how to get your raffle numbers. Thank you so much!

Every donation, no matter what size, helps find a cure for this dreadful disease sooner than later.

Update: Thanks to Kimberly at The Fat Quarter Shop for doing an article on Katy on the Jolly Jabber! I really appreciate her and everyone else that has linked to the CF site. Bloggers are wonderful people!

Another update: You know, I am looking at this picture of Katy and thinking she sure does look like somebody, and it just dawned on me, the young kooky girl in October Road that works at the Pizza Parlor? Doesn't she look like her? LOL!!! And those toes aren't bruised, they are painted with green and blue polish! ROFLOL!!!

Well Dana, don't you worry about crying--everytime I think of what Katy endures every day brings tears to my eyes. It brings me joy just to look at that sweet little face with those big dimples.

Love ya,

What a beautiful little girl!

Have you been following the blog "Confessions of a CF Husband"? (http://cfhusband.blogspot.com/) Nate married Tricia, who has CF. Just as she was being listed on the lung transplant list, they discovered she was pregnant, and opted NOT to abort.

Tricia was hospitalized at Duke to place her on the ventilator after Christmas, but conditions were too unstable, so little Gwyneth Rose was delivered by C-Section 15 weeks early.

Tricia underwent a double lung transplant and was discharged today, and they are staying at the hotel where Nate has been living since December, while Gwyneth gains enough weight to come home. Oh, and Gwyneth does NOT have CF.

It's been a beautiful story about a beautiful marriage and God's work in their lives. He has lots of readers, has participated in a couple of walks for CF and their story has been publicized a lot. Over 270 people (if I remember correctly) have signed up to be organ donors since Tricia got her new lungs.

Thanks to Cindy for making that lovely quilt, and good luck to dear little Katy!

What a precious little girl! I hope she'll be okay!

Is it only a raffle for UScitizens?
I had trouble filling in the form as a european....

And, may I link to your raffle from my blog?

What an adorable little girl, Perry! I will definitely donate - while it would be lovely to have a chance to win that beautiful quilt, it's much more important to find a cure for this dreadful disease.

Thanks for sharing Katy's story with us Perry. She sure is a cutie!
I put the link up on my blog. :)

Your pecan pie looks wonderful and I bought that Sitty Pretty pattern a couple of weeks ago. I'm really glad that you are doing so well with helping the economy....LOLOL

She DOES look like Pizza Girl! I didn't know anyone else watched that show. We enjoy it so much.

I had a brother-sister pair of classmates when I was at seminary. Patrick ultimately had the double lung transplant and Kathleen did not; she serves a congregation near Buffalo and continues the fight against the terrible disease.

Love,
N, NP

Hi everyone - thank you all for your kind comments and for your patience! This is not a good time for me to be having internet problems :( and I apologize. I'm working to get everyone's raffle numbers to them today!

Also, I did notice some connection problems with cff's website overall yesterday, so I would encourage Lynette and others to try again. Thank you all so much!

Perry, Katy is precious...what a very sad disease. I just posted before I saw this so I will try to either edit or post again and add the info. That is a truly beautiful quilt, I hope it brings in a lot of $ for research.
