As October comes to a close it is time to retire the Jack-o-Lanterns for another year. I just love this quilt and every year for the month of October it lives on my bed. This is a Fons and Porter Pattern from September/October 99. I started quilting in 2000 and a friend of mine had this magazine. I decided I had to make this quilt, so I ordered the magazine from Fons and Porter. Then I started looking for oranges and backgrounds.
By the time I got ready to make this quilt I had accumulated enough oranges to make at least 30 pumpkins with backgrounds. And, I had run across Cindy from a group we were in together, and we became internet friends. When I mentioned I was going to make a pumpkin quilt, it was decided I should make blocks for her also. I am not sure how I got talked into that one, but those of you who know her will understand. Anyway, I never did see hers finished, lol, so not sure she has finished it yet. Maybe by next Halloween? What, do I hear mumbling coming from the East?

See the witches? A piece of batik I found on the internet Aren't they cute? lol

I LOVE your Jacks quilt...I wonder if I can still get that magazine from them. I was quilting then but didn't get their magazine then. I'll have to give it a try.
I love that pattern too. I remember well editing the instructions from Liz and Marianne. I was editor of their magazine until 2001.
What a fun Jack-o-lantern quilt!!!!
Perry, I love your jack quilt. My good jack-bad jack wall hanging is the same pattern, I didn't have a friend who made me blocks.. LOL
